My first job as a Spanish language teacher began in September 1972 at Brooks School. In 1976, I entered graduate school, graduating with a Master of Divinity from Duke University. I then spent 5 years in parish ministry as a United Methodist pastor in Iowa. The move into educational administration was a logical one for me and I served two independent prep schools in Indiana before accepting a position as Director of College Counseling at the Cairo (Egypt) American College in 1989. From then on, I have primarily worked in American/international schools outside the USA in Egypt, Russia, Japan, Sudan, Nepal, Peru, and China.
Debby Wells (BA '72) and I were married in August 1972 and have twin sons, Greg and Nate, who are now married with children (2 each) of their own. Greg and his wife are living and working in Chennai, India, at the American International School. Nate and his wife are in the San Francisco Bay Area and Nate is a designer with Facebook. Debby and I are now divorced but continue to be best friends as we travel somewhat diverse paths.
COVID forced me to leave China but I continue my consulting with a US-based prep school and its subsidiary in Shanghai as well as counseling a number of Chinese students who are hoping to study in the USA.
